Join the Youth, Join the Coalition!

A Message From Our Director

The CWYC is a network of over 500 youth-serving individuals in the New Haven urban region working together to build a courageous community in which all youth can succeed. CWYC has supported the youth sector by organizing and convening coalition members (i.e. local leadership, youth-serving organizations/adults) and partners on issues related to youth development and success. CWYC is the only organization in the New Haven region with the sole intention of promoting collaboration, alliances, collective action, cross-sector exchanges, and networking between youth-serving individuals, and youth-serving organizations.

We invite you to join us in our collaborative work and become a member of the CWYC for the 2018 calendar year. As a member of CWYC, we hope that you, your staff, and your youth leaders will participate in this shared work and shared a vision.  We continually work to roll out additional resources and opportunities to support the work that we are doing.  We will keep you informed as this happens, and provide ways to recruit your expertise and suggestions.

Please send in your dues to become a CWYC member for 2018.  Our membership dues are $125 for organizations, $50 all-volunteer groups, and $25 for adult individuals and $10 for youth individuals (ages 14-25). We have enclosed an invoice for your records.

Your membership dues help support the work the coalition does behind the scenes to implement and support the email discussion group, CWYC website, training opportunities, collaborative initiatives with service providers, membership meetings, and organizing and advocacy work aimed at making New Haven youth and youth-serving agencies a priority in both the public and private sector.

Please contact Addys at 203.464.7838 or, if you have questions about how the coalition can serve your work or suggestions on ways that we can work together.  If you are uncertain about whether you wish to become a dues-paying member, please do continue to participate in our meetings and email communications to learn more about the coalition.

Thank you for your great work with and for youth in our community and for your participation in Citywide Youth Coalition!

About Becoming A Member

Below are just some of the benefits to being a member of CWYC.  As our membership continues to grow and our vision continues to expand, we expect membership benefits to be responsive to the changing needs of our members and the youth with whom they work.  We encourage you to take full advantage of the benefits that the Coalition offers and we look forward to your active participation in the Coalition.

CWYC members will be included on our website with a link to your website or a free webpage.

CWYC serves as a great resource to our members, providing them an array of valuable information about issues related to youth, resources to help strengthen youth-serving organizations, and grant funding opportunities to engage in collaborative work in the City of New Haven.

CWYC’s monthly meetings and quarterly leadership breakfasts give adult members an opportunity to meet other youth-serving adults within the New Haven area and promote programs and/or upcoming fundraisers on behalf of their group or organization.  CWYC’s bi-monthly Dinner & Dialogue events give youth and adult members an opportunity to engage in dialogue on topics of youth concern and exchange knowledge and resources to develop problem-solving strategies.

Workshops and Trainings are designed to strengthen and improve the internal infrastructure of our member agencies and develop the knowledge and skillset of member agency youth-serving adults and youth. Trainings include Youth-Led Community Organizing 101, Undoing Racism, and Political Education 101. CWYC will also work with private consultants in CT to offer workshops and trainings based on member needs. Members will also receive a free ticket to our Annual Celebration Event.

As a member agency, you are entitled to borrow the following items: a digital camera, digital video recorder, and an LCD projector for powerpoint presentations. Training for the equipment will be offered to members periodically or upon request. Making these items available to our members saves them money from having to invest in very costly equipment.

CWYC gives youth-serving agencies and youth a voice! We will work on connecting with state and local legislators to stay informed of legislative issues regarding youth and make sure that the needs and concerns of our members are heard by our policymakers.
