Citywide Youth Coalition Kicks Off New Home/New Look/New Outlook

What:
Today, Citywide Youth Coalition invites the public to experience a
new look and a revitalized outlook and outreach. The success of an
organization is evidenced by the dedication of the core members, and the
ability to grow in initiative and inclusiveness.
Citywide
Youth Coalition has much to celebrate with a new look that reflects the
principles and outcome of our organization. But beyond that, we hope
to strengthen our organization with participation of individual
community members, providing an added layer of transparency and
inclusiveness in decision-making and outcome.
“Citywide
has been working in New Haven since 1976, to bring together after
school programs and summer camps to better support youth, and now we see
there is a role for everyone in our community to help all of the young
people in our neighborhoods to succeed,” said Rachel Heerema, executive
director.
The
Coalition has planned a Come Together Breakfast on September 21, an
Youth Arts Celebration on October 22, and a workshop series for high
school students and families in November called ‘College, Career &
Beyond.’ “Seriously, everyone can contribute something - time, talent,
an encouraging word, money - to support these kids. They need us more
than ever.”

staff, community stakeholders and individuals. We work together to
build a courageous community in which all youth can succeed. We are
focusing on three community level results: youth graduate high school
prepared for success as adults; families effectively support youth’s
positive development toward success; and youth have hope and a plan for
their success.
